What is the Keto Diet?

*The Ketogenic or Keto diet is very similar to a low-carbohydrate diet such as the Atkins diet. The main difference between a regular low carb diet plan is the amount of carbs and protein allowed on a daily basis.

In general, low-carb diet intake should be under 100 grams; strict ketogenic diets are a subgroup of low carb diets that typically only allow up to 50 g of carbs/day.
*75% Fats
*20% Protein
*5% Carbs
- How does it work?
Furthermore, the Ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein and low-carbohydrate diet. You are swapping out the carbs in the diet with a higher portion of fat and a moderate protein intake.
- The nutrient intake typically works out to about 70-75% of calories from Fat, 20-25% from protein and 5-10% from carbohydrates on a daily basis.

* This high-fat diet puts your body into a state called '' Ketosis'', where our body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. In these case carbs are broken down into Glucose, witch your body carries in the blood to give your cells energy.Oppositely, ketosis makes ketones from the high amounts of fat being consumed, and the presence of large carbs in the diet will actually stop ketosis.
